Sister M. Juanita Szymanski
Hello, my name is Sister M. Juanita Szymanski. I am the Mission Leader for Montessori Center of Our Lady and St. Mary Child Care Center. I have been involved in the area of education for 41 years. I began my career of teaching and for 10 years taught in Catholic elementary schools. I continued as principal in the Catholic school system for 22 years and now have been the Mission Leader for the last 9 years.
My undergraduate work in education was completed at Madonna (College) University, here on campus. I received a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University.
I grew up and was educated in Alpena, Michigan, where my parents raised six of us children in a Catholic family, three boys and three girls. I have a twin sister, Martha. I attended St. Mary Grade School and Catholic Central High School.
After graduating from high school, I entered the Felician Sisters community in Livonia, Michigan. I have had the opportunity to travel to various countries, my favorites being Poland, where our foundress, Blessed M. Angela Truszkowska founded our religious congregation and Italy where in Assisi, St. Francis was born and founded the Franciscan Congregation.
In my role as mission leader I strive to instill the mission of the Felician Sisters to cooperate with Christ for the spiritual renewal of the world and to heed the Gospel message to live in hope in a world so greatly in need of hope.
