My name is Mrs. Ruma. This is my second year as a teacher in Room 3 at Montessori Center of Our Lady. I have been teaching young children for over 21 years as a teacher and directress in renowned schools in Novi, Bloomfield Hills, Farmington Hills and Plymouth.
I have a Masters in American History from Jadavpur University, India and I am a Montessori certified teacher with an AMS (American Montessori Society Primary Teacher’s Credential) from Adrian Dominican Montessori Teacher Education Institute, Adrian, MI. I am also CPR and First Aid Certified.
I write short stories and I am an Indian classical dancer. During my school and college years, I won several prizes for Quiz contests and Debate competitions.
My husband Sanjay and I are blessed to have two wonderful children. To me, my students are like my children too. Like my children, I want the best for my students academically, socially, emotionally and mentally.
As a Montessori teacher, I aim to provide a classroom for children that makes them feel safe, successful and challenged. Incorporating the beliefs of Dr. Maria Montessori, I believe the classroom should always provide peacefulness, order and simplicity for the children to develop concentration, coordination and independence.
I look forward to a wonderful journey of educational achievement and overall growth with my students here in MCOL.
Some of my Favorites:
Movie: Finding Nemo
Book: Twenty Thousands Leagues Under The Sea
Hobby: Writing short stories
“The child is truly a miraculous being, and this should be felt deeply by the educator.”
